Tension has now been available on Spotify for a couple of weeks. Feel it! As Roger Penrose says, “There is no before.”
Pre-save our next single on Spotify, or Spotikka, as we Norsemen tend to say. The song is already available on YouTube, and the Mexicans seem to like it. They make good Fenders in Mexico, you know? Rivers Cuomo knows what I’m talking about. Anyway, we’re quite proud of this song, as it makes you want … Read more
I bicycled to PihkaSound to rehearse a song with the Unzyme producer Lasse Turunen. I was just about to get back home, when I noticed that my bike had a flat tire. I decided to walk back home and shoot some video footage on the way back. Most of the time I was on the … Read more
Joona explains how the fourth album was named. “It’s all about looking back, trying to figure out how you got to where you are. Forensic investigation of your own past.” Watch the video to learn more about the thoughts behind the upcoming album.

Nerve cells is the second single from Unzyme’s upcoming album. Some of our songs have science fiction themes. This is one of two scifi songs on the fourth Unzyme album. As a long-time fan of science fiction movies and games, I always find it fascinating to write about possible futures. Songs like Extinction, Wargame and … Read more

Unzyme’s fourth album is about 70% done. It will be released in the fall of 2020. No specific release date has been set yet. We’re really excited about this release, because it’s going to be a very versatile album. These are all relatively new songs, all composed after the release of Transplant. For a long time I had this idea of having lyric videos of all of our songs. I had a very specific idea of how the lyric videos should look like, and I didn’t really know how to make such videos. But I know how to make this kind of videos, so I decided to … Read more
This new Unzyme song explores the misty abandoned playgrounds of Coldplay, Sia, Sigur Ros, a-ha, Florence + The Machine and Poets of the Fall. The video for “Dust on the shelves” was directed and shot by Ville Hoikkala. The script is based on the lyrics of the song. The song, as usual, was produced and … Read more
The new song marks a new, explorative chapter in the Unzyme saga. It may be a bit of a counter reaction to the pop-infested Transplant. That’s not to say that we don’t like Transplant. It’s our best album so far, but these new songs play a different game. It’s more of a risk to go … Read more
This song is about wanting to be something else than the majority, but still conforming to outside expectations, because the fear of getting rejected is too strong. It’s about knowing your true self, but keeping it a secret. It takes loads of courage to declare your independence and to live the way you want to. … Read more
We’ve been hard at work, editing a music video for a brand new song called Dust on the shelves. We like to do story-driven music videos, and this one is no exception, except for the setting, which is radically different to what you might expected from us. Instead of your standard industrial facility, in which … Read more

I was just listening to Tina Jukarainen’s (Fullsteam Agency) talk at Mars Festival 2017. Literally, when she was talking about importance of Spotify playlists as a way to get discovered, I received a message that Unzyme’s “Lie down in debris” music video (and Spotify single) had been featured in Soundi magazine. As it happens, the song … Read more
