Unzyme – Bad old times (Live at the Unzyme Proving Ground)

This song is about looking back at a broken relationship and realizing that you were the only one who actually believed in it.

“Bad old times” was originally released in 2015 on an album called Override. Such a sad song, like much of Unzyme’s back catalog. However sad the lyrics might be, I still don’t like to call our music “dark”. Our lyrics are confessions of real feelings, and they never claim that this is the final state you will ever be in. They never blame the world or anyone else, they are more like honest questions than expressions of uncontrolled anger.

You can always choose the perspective of hope, no matter how hard your situation claims to be.

Lyrics

I spread all the photographs on the floor
they look at me
and tell me that there’s something I should’ve done
differently

I finally see the looks on your face
they gradually went
from total joy to numbness of self-defense
and bitterness

Who took your head under?
Drained your oxygen?
He’s still in your brain
giving orders
and playing with your life

I cannot believe how much was imagined
and aggrandized
was I the only one to see colors
in grayscale life

I shred all the photographs into pieces
just to make sure
to never again get stuck in a memory
a dead moment

Who took your head under?
Drained your oxygen?
He’s still in your brain
giving orders
and playing with your life
