I had already a lot of Tallinn Music Week preparations to do, when my web host decided to suspend my account. Well, that sucked, because they’re closed for the weekend, and I knew I’d get support on Monday at the earliest, which was almost three days away. And on Monday I would’ve already been on my way to Tallinn. I couldn’t really let this company take my website down for such a long time.
This was not the first time a hosting company decided to close a hosting service without any kind of warning. I’m pretty sure that the account was closed because another site of mine, which was situated on the same server, had exceeded the disk space limit (because of an automatic backup). That really shouldn’t affect all the sites under the same account. I fixed the disk space issue, but it seemed that there was no automatic system to get this site back online, so I had to take matters into my own hands. I took a copy of Unzyme.com, transferred the domain to another host, and left the hosting company. That’s what you get for not giving a crap about your customers. Most Finnish hosting companies suck! Avoid small hosting companies, because they’re unlikely to be there for you when you need support.
The site is now back up and running, and it already seems to be running much faster than before, so I’m glad I moved it to another server.
